The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced the highly anticipated housing sales figures. Housing sales across Turkey decreased by 35.6 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 85 thousand 652. In housing sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 13 thousand 944 housing sales and 16.3 percent. According to the sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 10 thousand housing sales and 11.7 percent share, and Izmir with 4 thousand 960 housing sales and 5.8 percent share. The provinces with the lowest number of housing sales were Ardahan and Hakkari with 22 houses and Bayburt with 53 houses, respectively.

Housing sales decreased by 18.6 percent in the January-April period

In the January-April period, housing sales decreased by 18.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 368 thousand 867.

Mortgaged housing sales were realized as 21 thousand 769

Mortgaged housing sales across Turkey decreased by 32.0 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 21 thousand 769. The share of mortgaged sales in total housing sales was 25.4 percent. Mortgaged housing sales in the January-April period decreased by 19.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 80 thousand 591.

Other housing sales in the January-April period decreased by 18.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 288 thousand 276.

In the January-April period, first-hand housing sales decreased by 15.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 110 thousand 859.

58 thousand 700 houses changed hands in second-hand housing sales

Second-hand housing sales across Turkey decreased by 39.3 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 58 thousand 700. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 68.5 percent. In the January-April period, second-hand housing sales decreased by 19.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 258 thousand 8.

2 thousand 557 houses were sold to foreigners in April

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 60.3 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 2 thousand 557. In April, the share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 3.0 percent. Antalya took the first place in housing sales to foreigners with the sale of one thousand 24 houses. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 792 housing sales and Mersin with 186 housing sales, respectively.

In the January-April period, housing sales to foreigners decreased by 35.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and became 13 thousand 483.

According to the nationalities of the country, the most housing sales were made to the citizens of the Russian Federation

In April, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 817 houses in Turkey. The citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by the citizens of Iran with 377 houses, Ukraine with 136 residences and Iraq with 124 residences, respectively.
